During an energy evaluation, a Rénoclimat energy advisor will assess your home. He will perform an analysis to check all of its energy efficiency aspects.

He will determine the EnerGuide rating of your home by doing a blower door test, give you advice on the retrofits you’re planning to do and afterwards, send you a detailed renovation upgrade report.

Evaluation fees

The Rénoclimat program offers currently free pre and post-retrofit energy evaluations, including subsequent evaluations.

At some point during the current year 2024, the following changes will be in effect:

  • A fee of $150, plus applicable taxes, will apply for subsequent energy evaluations and for the first pre-retrofit energy evaluation.
    • The homeowner will have to pay the energy advisor during the home assessment.
    • The fee for the pre-retrofit energy evaluation will be reimbursed if you are eligible for financial assistance upon the completion of your project.
    • Therefore, your pre-retrofit energy evaluation will have only cost $22.46.
  • The first post-retrofit energy evaluation will remain free.
  • Each subsequent energy evaluation will cost $150 plus applicable taxes
