The following are programs offered by the ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune and its partners. Various types of financial assistance are available through these programs.

Promotion of products certified ENERGY STAR®Introduced in its current form in 2004, this umbrella program is aimed at raising awareness among residential clients about all the energy-saving equipment available. It focuses on commercial efforts and financial support for certain equipment. Working in conjunction with manufacturers and retailers, Hydro-Québec Distribution promotes the following measures: electronic thermostats, three-element water heaters, timers for swimming pool filters and solar pool covers, energy efficient lighting products and ENERGY STAR® televisions and household appliances. In addition, the distributor works with the AEE (Agence de l’efficacité énergétique) and with manufacturers to promote ENERGY STAR® patio doors and windows. |

Recovery & recycling of outmoded refrigerators and freezers (Recyc-Frigo)Launched in March 2008, this program involves collecting and recycling refrigerators and freezers that consume excessive amounts of energy, using environmental best practices. Clients are given a financial incentive. The program is aimed at all Québec households with outmoded freezers and refrigerators. |

Rénoclimat®Rénoclimat is an energy efficiency renovation program for people who own a single-family, semi-detached, row house (town house), a duplex or triplex. The program includes an energy audit conducted both before and after the renovation. An energy efficiency rating of your home is done on-site by an energy efficiency advisor. The program also offers access to financial assistance. |

Residential consumption diagnosisLaunched in 2003, this energy analysis tool informs residential clients about energy efficiency measures suitable for their homes and their energy consumption habits. The client fills out a questionnaire (hard copy or online version), and then receives a report listing recommendations, along with a portrait of energy consumption per use and suggestions for energy-saving measures appropriate to the client’s situation. For some measures, the client receives an estimate of potential savings, implementation costs and the time required for a return on the investment. The service is free of charge. |

Water HeatersThis program promotes the use of non-storage gas water heaters. These units have an AFUE rating of 78%, compared to a conventional water heater with a rating of 68%. |

Drain water heat recovery unitA rebate of $2 per cubic metre of natural gas saved is planned as part of the program for the purchase and installation of a drain water heat recovery unit. Durable, practical and maintenance-free, a drain water heat recovery unit is recommended for homes in which showering represents a significant portion of the hot water consumption, or the existing water heater has difficulty in keeping up with demand. It is intended for housing cooperatives and community organizations. |

Financial assistance for renovationsThe goal of Gazifère’s renovation program is to improve the thermal characteristics of the building envelope in order to save energy. The program offers financial assistance of $2 per cubic metre of natural gas savings resulting from renovations affecting the building envelope. The program is intended for housing cooperatives and non-profit community organizations helping people in need. |

AVENUESThe AVENUES program validates the profitability and commercial viability of opportunities aimed at residential and commercial clients. These opportunities may be based on implementing underexploited technologies or commercial approaches that the distributor feels are not yet sufficiently developed. Relying on an advisory committee representing different segments and interests of its clientele, the distributor defines market opportunities and analyses every proposal it receives. |
