The Advantages of the Rénoclimat Program

Energy efficient renovations pay off!

With the Rénoclimat program, you can get an energy evaluation of your home at a preferred rate. The Rénoclimat financial assistance options can also help you cover part of your renovation costs. But that is not all! The advantages of participating in the Rénoclimat program can even increase over time.

Reduce your energy bill

The participants of the Rénoclimat program save 25%, on average, off their annual heating costs after having carried out their renovations. And these savings are recurrent. In a few years, you will have recovered the equivalent of what it cost you to carry out your energy-saving renovations.

Reduce drafts and cold areas

Cold floors or walls and condensation at the bottom of walls can be due to poor insulation. Poor air tightness can also produce cold drafts.

Improving the insulation of your home’s attic space, walls or basement can greatly increase your level of comfort and certainly reduce your energy bill. Doing some additional caulking work can easily give you positive results as well.

Improve ambient air quality

Insufficient ventilation generates excess humidity which causes condensation. Major humidity problems are often associated with unpleasant odours.

Conversely, excessive, unbalanced ventilation or a poorly maintained system often causes discomfort, dries out ambient air in winter and wastes energy.

Improving the ventilation in your home with a heat recovery system (HRV) and caulking the air leaks can transform the air quality in your home and increase your comfort.

Protect your home

Poor air tightness can let cold air in (infiltrations) but also let warm air out (exfiltrations). By transporting humidity, exfiltrations can lead to condensation problems that are hidden in the building envelope, such as the degradation of insulation, the development of mushrooms, and rot in the wood frame.

In some homes, the installation of an air or wind barrier membrane may be required to avoid materials from deteriorating.

Increase the value of your home

Well-targeted energy-saving renovations can increase the resale value of your home. They help preserve materials in the long term, increase the comfort level of its occupants and reduce its heating costs. These are all noteworthy features that can attract potential buyers!

Do not forget to include your home’s EnerGuide rating when drawing up the list of features describing your home.
