Ecomobile
Ecodriving consists in applying driving tips and techniques that make it possible to reduce your fuel consumption for a given route, regardless of the vehicle that is used.
Good acceleration management is one of the most important principles of ecodriving. The Department considers that ecodriving can generate potential fuel savings of 10%.
Here is the list of ecodriving services currently available for companies using light duty trucks.
Teaching the basics of ecodriving
The course about "Teaching the basics of ecodriving" specifically targets Québec driving school instructors. Its objective is to support instructors who must teach the ecodriving module now part of the mandatory Road Safety Education Program for new drivers. This course is also a criterion for filing the application to participate in the Ecomobile pilot project.
Ecomobile Pilote Project
Ecomobile certification is available within the scope of this pilot project to Québec driving schools and other teaching organizations that wish to add ecodriving to their training offer for drivers of the corporate clientele.
Participants in the pilot project will be able to enjoy instructional materials and support from the Department so they may offer the "One-hour course on Ecodriving" and become ecodriving ambassadors.
Proven savings potential
Launched in the spring of 2009, the purpose of this study was to verify the fuel savings that could be generated through ecodriving. The study was conducted in the province of Québec for a period of one year with the collaboration of 93 drivers from five different organizations.
The results of this study were unveiled in November 2011.
