Ecomobile Pilot Project

Pilot Project

EcomobileWithin the scope of its Ecomobile pilot project, the Department is looking for driver training organizations wishing to receive certification in order to offer the Department “One-hour course in Ecodriving”. Over 100 of these organizations located throughout the different Québec regions could be able to participate in this pilot project.

The purpose of the Ecomobile pilot project is to test the distribution of the Department ecodriving training for light duty vehicles throughout Québec via a network of certified organizations. The information collected during the pilot project would serve to improve the effectiveness of a possible program by determining the best way to deliver it.

Participating in the pilot project does not prevent an organization from participating in a future program developed by the Department. However, it does not guarantee that the organization will be able to take part in this future program. The Department reserves the right to refuse an organization if its participation does not meet the eligibility criteria and the objectives of the pilot project.

Ecomobile certification

The Department offers Ecomobile certification to driving schools and other Québec driver training organizations that wish to include ecodriving to their service offer for drivers of their corporate clientele.

  • Do you offer light duty vehicle driving courses?
  • Do you wish to offer a one-hour course in ecodriving?

Obtain your Ecomobile certification and become a Québec ecodriving ambassador!

The advantages of participating in the pilot project

The Department offers many advantages to Ecomobile-certified organizations:

  • Quality, ready-to-use instructional material;

  • Ecomobile Instruction qualification cards for your eligible instructors who attended the information day; cards are valid for a period of two years;
  • Ecomobile certificate for your organization;

Once your organization is certified, it will be recognized by the Department as being able to offer the “One-hour course in Ecodriving” for light duty vehicles.

“One-hour course in Ecodriving”

Including AEE instructional material

The purpose of the “One-hour course in Ecodriving” is to provide company drivers with the tools they need to adopt more energy efficient driving techniques.

The instructional material used in the “One-hour course in Ecodriving” includes a presentation document, five demonstration videos shot from a driving simulator and a participant’s handbook.

These tools explain the factors that influence fuel consumption and present fuel-saving driving techniques. A particular focus is placed on effective acceleration management, such as maintaining a constant speed in traffic and avoiding needless accelerations and breaking.

The crash course consists of a 30-minute presentation, a 15-minute discussion period and a 15-minute simulated driving test (where available).

The instructional material (in French) is provided by the Department. Organizations that are Ecomobile-certified can use and publish this material for their driver training sessions.
